Washington, D.C. - Many travellers still rely on comprehensive printed guidebooks for tourism information. But travellers are also increasingly using mobile technology to plan a trip or find their way around.
People who are feeling ill should postpone travel plans and stay off planes, trains, buses and ferries, federal health officials said Wednesday.

According to an article I saw on Cruise Critic, September 10 is the height of the Hurricane Season. The season runs until December first. So one might ask, is September then a good time to sail in the Caribbean?
I recently returned from helping to facilitate a conference in Saudi Arabia. In my years of organizing international events I've been to some pretty amazing places - Sweden, Jordan and Russia, to name a few. Perhaps that's part of the reason I had low expectations about this particular trip. To be honest, as a Western woman, I was dreading it.
Mumbai, India - Last time we spoke about travelling to, and around India. Today, it's all about the Ghandis. That's a terrible joke!
Mumbai - It's 35C in February. No, it has nothing to do with the recent warm weather, but one amazing trip to India. I went on a two week trip to the "homeland" to re-unite with family, attend two weddings, and wish my grandmother on her 85th birthday! But, it was also a change for me to see cities like Mumbai, and Goa as an adult, and truly appreciate it.
Berlin - So you want to go to Europe and you think you have everything you need to get on that plane and leave home behind for a good three weeks. What will you do once you get there? Are you the type of person who knows how to get around on their own and isn't afraid of getting a little lost or do you like to be organized and not have to worry about directions? These, along with how much clothing you should bring and how much money you're going to be spending on souvenirs are important questions.
Beyond cottage country
Canadians looking for adventures off the beaten path
Petra, Jordan - Trekking in Petra à la Indiana Jones. Slurping on lobster soup in Iceland during any of the 21 hours of daylight in July and August. Hiking through the ruins in Peru.
More and more Canadians are not only planning on visiting destinations off the beaten path this summer, they are seeking adventures in their travels, a study has found.
Florida - The alarm goes off at 3 a.m., we like to hit the road early to avoid rush-hour traffic in Detroit, Mich. We are heading from Toronto to Sarasota, Fla. -- a distance of 2,355 kilometres door-to-door. It might seem like a lot, but it’s actually a drive I’ve been doing for years; it’s easy and straightforward. We’ve got the car packed with blankets, pillows, and of course snacks. We’re ready for anything.
Navigating New Orleans: Saying goodbye to New Orleans
Part 4 of a 4-part series
New Orleans - I can't believe it's our last day -- where has the time gone? We head to Café Beignet, and I have what else, but beignets. Who doesn't love doughnuts for breakfast?

Part 3 of a 4-part series
New Orleans - It’s Sunday in New Orleans and jazz brunches are big in the big easy, which means there are lots to choose from. We decide on a small café, called Pierre Maspero, which doesn’t have a buffet. We’ve been eating enough already the past couple of days and as a vegetarian there isn‘t a lot I can eat at many of the buffets.
Navigating New Orleans: Swamp and bayou tour
Part 2 of a 4-part series
New Orleans - A visit to New Orleans wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Café du Monde, world famous for its coffee and beignets, which are a cross between an American doughnut and a French pastry. The line-ups are huge, but its worth the wait. Our beignets arrive covered in powdered sugar and piping hot. The place is open 24 hours every day of the year and there is also take away service.
Navigating New Orleans: Taking in the French Quarter
Part 1 of a 4-part series
New Orleans - When many people think of a long weekend getaway they may think of a shopping trip to New York City or Philadelphia, or maybe even the Bahamas, but how about New Orleans?
Toronto - You can go exploring, blaze a trail, and take a hike. But the question is, once you’ve discovered new lands and experienced exciting adventures, do you snap a picture and fire off an e-mail, or buy a postcard and place it in the mailbox?
New York City - A team of lean-medium-built Ghostbusters storm across 6th Avenue, heading towards Greenwich Village, looking to wipe out any poltergeists or phantoms that they may stumble into. Closer to Bleecker Street, a scantily-clad woman in her early-20s struts onto the sidewalk in a pink bikini and heels; other females look on with envy, while some of the men can't help but stare, like a deer caught in the headlights. Earlier on in the day, a man draped solely in a brown wrap, with a lion's head, walks into a fashion accessory store, maybe shopping for something funky for his alter ego?
