TORONTO, Ont. - With less than two weeks to go until election day, the campaign for mayor in Toronto has taken a nasty turn.
About 10 unauthorized and scandalous election-style lawn signs were put up along University Avenue Monday overnight.
The white plastic signs with black lettering read, "wife-beating racist drunk for mayor."
They were planted in the flower beds on the University Avenue median, just south of Elm Street.
Frank, a contractor, who was on his way to work, was so offended by these signs, he took them down and tossed them in the back of his van.
"And I just don't think it's a fair run at the race, I know they should talk about the real political issues [...], so I think it's a low blow," Frank said.
He insisted he is not working with any of the mayoral candidates campaigns. In fact, he said he's just a concerned taxpayer. He also won't say who he thinks the signs were targeting.
