SIERRA NEVADA, Spain - Chris Del Bosco was the top Canadian on Saturday at a World Cup ski-cross event, placing fourth in the men's competition.
Del Bosco finished fourth in the Olympic men's event, crashing out in the final.
Stanley Hayer of Calgary was fifth, Davey Barr of Whistler, B.C., was sixth, Brian Bennett of Quesnel, B.C., placed 10th and Nick Zoricic of Toronto finished 25th.
Olympic champion Michael Schmid of Switzerland won gold to cap an amazing season that saw him also capture the overall World Cup ski-cross title. Audun Groenvold of Norway was second while Swiss skier Andreas Steffen placed third.
In women's action, Ophelie David finished second to wrap up the overall women's title. Anna Holmlund of Sweden won gold, while Marte Hoeie Gjefsen of Norway captured bronze.
Kelsey Serwa of Kelowna, B.C., was the top Canadian in ninth. Olympic champion Ashleigh McIvor, who had a chance at catching David in the overall standings, stumbled to a 10th-place finish.
Danielle Poleschuk of Winnipeg placed 12th.
