New Ipsos Reid poll shows Liberals poised to form majority government

TORONTO, Ont. - An Ipsos Reid poll commissioned by The Ottawa Citizen shows that McGuinty's Liberals are poised to win another majority government.

The poll suggests that, if a vote were to be held tomorrow, the Liberals would a 10 point lead over the Conservatives.

Through the campaign, many voters have said that they are looking for change but the poll found the Liberals would get 41 per cent of the vote, which would put them just shy of a majority.  

The poll showed Conservative Leadr Tim Hudak would get 31 per cent and the NDP's Andrea Horwath would come in third with 25 per cent of the vote.

The results do not surprise John Wright with Ipsos public affairs, who told 680News the Liberals have played a very smart campaign.

"What it's done is, from the outset, take ownership of some of the trails and tribulations of the last number of years but also pitched forward and say - we may not be the best but we've got us here with great success and with a great track record," said Wright.

Four in ten people polled said McGuinty has done a good job and deserves to be re-elected.

Wright says the deciding factor will be the ability of all parties to get their supporters out to vote.

Should the Liberals be re-elected, it would be McGuinty's third term in office.
