Are you awake? You shouldn't be.
Friday is World Sleep Day, an international event that is intended to celebrate the act of sleeping and to help raise awareness for bedtime-related issues.
The event is sponsored by The World Association of Sleep Medicine, a group of sleep medicine experts.
The doctors said while we recognize the importance of sleep for children in terms of growth and learning, we don't yet accept sleep is vital to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, reduce weight gain and preserve memory in adults.
An estimated one-third of adults suffer from clinically recognizable insomnia. Thirty-eight-million people suffer from sleep apnea.
