A Calgary woman has been severely beaten while vacationing in Mexico.
37-year-old Sheila Nabb was found lying in a pool of blood in an elevator at the Hotel Riu Emerald Bay in Mazatlan.
Mexican police say it appears the woman might have been assaulted in her room, then dragged down a hallway to the elevator.
Robert Prosser, the victim's uncle, said every bone in her face was broken and that she remains in intensive care in a medically induced coma.
"She's going to have to her jaw wired shut and plates put in where her cheek bones were. The doctor there, the specialist, said it would probably be three of four weeks before she'd be stable enough to be sent back home to Calgary."
He added that she did not sustain injuries to any other part of her body.
Prosser said that officials have pictures of a person going into and out of an elevator but no suspects have been arrested.
The victim's husband was asleep in their room at the time of the attack.
