Federal disaster plan comes up short: auditor general
OTTAWA - Auditor General Sheila Fraser says the federal agency charged with co-ordinating the response to threats such as the H-1-N-1 flu has yet to complete its emergency plan.
It is one of the more startling findings in Fraser's latest report which was tabled today.
Fraser says she has no idea why such an important plan is still on the drawing board at Public Safety Canada.
In separate report filed today, federal Environment Commissioner Scott Vaughan found that federal government can't compel companies to recall the toxic trinkets, even though lead has been found in some children's jewelry.
