People in parts of Atlantic Canada have braced themselves for a weakened but still dangerous tropical storm Earl.
On Friday evening, it blew its way through southern New England and Long Island.
The storm's menacing winds and heavy rains were forecasted to slam the Maritimes on Saturday morning.
Officials said it could topple trees, bring down power lines and generate heaving swells along the picturesque coastal communities that dot the Bay of Fundy.
The Canadian Hurricane Centre said gusts of up to 130 kilometres an hour are anticipated, along with as much as 70 millimetres of rain.
