Dollar close to parity doesn't save us much money while shopping

The fact that our Canadian dollar is trading at close to parity with the American dollar but that doesn't mean we will pay the same as Americans for goods.
The Toronto Star did some checking and they found a Tim Horton's coffee costs 13 per cent more in Toronto than in Buffalo.
A shirt at The Gap cost 19 per cent more here than in the U.S.
And a Chevy Malibu cost 9 per cent more in Canada than in the U.S.
On the upside, DVDs and cameras cost less here in Canada.
