Possible Salmonella contamination prompts recall of Lay's Smokey Bacon flavoured chips

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued a warning, Monday, about possible Salmonella contamination in some Lay's brand chips.

Smokey bacon flavour potato chips are the latest product that could contain dry powder and paste hydrolyzed vegetable protein, or HVP, which has been recalled in the U.S. and Canada by Basic Foods Flavours Inc.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses in Canada linked to the consumption of these chips.

Here are the recalled products:

Lay's Smokey Bacon flavour Potato Chips 
- 43 g  
- UPC: 0 60410 06043 8  
- "Fresh Until" dates: between MR 23 and MA 4, inclusive

Lay's Smokey Bacon flavour Potato Chips
- 235 g  
- UPC: 0 60410 07032 1  
- "Fresh Until" dates: between MR 23 and AL 27, inclusive

These products may have been distributed nationally.
