A new study suggests a flame retardant, banned years ago in many parts of the world, is still being used in baby products - including nursing pillows, bassinet mattresses, strollers and high chairs.
Researchers at Duke University tested more than 1-hundred common baby items and found potentially toxic flame retardants in 80 per cent of them.
Compounds associated with pentaBDE, a once-popular flame retardant now banned for health concerns, were found in some of the products tested.
The lead author of the study said the findings warrant future testing to measure infants' exposure to these flame retardants and to determine if there are any associated health concerns.
