TORONTO - Controversial politician George Galloway has kicked off a cross-country Canadian tour.
The former British MP spoke to a crowd at York University in Toronto last night and is set to make an appearance in Montreal this evening.
Galloway was denied entry into Canada last year because of his alleged financial support to the Palestinian group Hamas. Ottawa considers Hamas a terrorist organization.
Immigration officials later let Galloway into the country following a Federal Court ruling that was critical of the government.
Galloway's tour will also take him to Halifax, Hamilton, Toronto, Vancouver, Yellowknife, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Ottawa.
His website says Galloway will speak about Ottawa’s attempts to ban him from the country, as well as the political situation in the Middle East and Central Asia.
