Zacatecas, Mexico - A collision involving a bus and a transport truck has killed at least 11 people, including as many as five Canadians, reports indicated Tuesday.

The tour bus, with 27 people on board, was headed for the city of Zacatecas in northern Mexico, west of Monterey, when the bus collided with a transport truck on a two-lane highway.

The latest reports from Mexican media suggested five Canadians were among the dead, including a 68-year-old woman from Caledonia, Ont., a 67-year-old woman from Vancouver, B.C., and a 56-year-old man from Quebec.

Eight American tourists and a Mexican tour guide were also killed.

A couple from Ontario was among the injured, but their hometowns were not yet known.

In Canada, Foreign Affairs confirmed there were Canadians on the bus, but it has not confirmed the deaths.
