One of Toronto's most respected television journalists announced Wednesday he has been diagnosed with cancer for a second time.
Mark Dailey broke the news of his kidney cancer during the 6 p.m. newscast.
Six years ago, the veteran CityNews anchor battled prostate cancer.
Dailey said he was told by doctors he had a tumour on his kidney last week after receiving a CT scan.
He added he plans on defeating the disease once again.
"This cancer's a little different. The prognosis - well it's good - it's not very good or it's not excellent and I'm very well aware of that [...].Ya absolutely - I'm in great medical hands - great hands beyond that, great family support [...]. We'll fight it, we'll probably beat this one too. I'm going 2 and 0."
Dailey will undergo surgery in a couple of weeks. He's expected to continue anchoring the 11 p.m. newscast until then.
Much of Dailey's time off the air has been spent helping to raise money and awareness about cancer.
