A woman claiming to have been shot, arrested and strip searched during the G20 has filed a civil suit against the Toronto Police Services Board and individual officers.
Lawyer Clayton Ruby and Brian Shiller will represent Natalie Gray who said she was shot twice by what she believes were rubber bullets as she peacefully protested during the summit.
Natalie sustained injuries to both her elbow and sternum.
Police arrested her and charged her with obstruction of a peace officer.
Here is what she alleged happened after:
- She was driven around in a police car for apx. 30 minutes before she was taken to hospital to receive treatment for her injuries.
- She was then taken to detention centre, located on Eastern Avenue, where she was taunted by police officers; denied access to her asthma medication; strip searched; and not allowed to speak to a lawyer despite her repeated requests.
- She was detained for apx. 30 hours before being released on bail.
On Aug. 23, the Crown withdrew all charges against Natalie.
Her lawyer are slated to announce the details of her $1-million civil suit Wednesday morning at a news conference.
