Back to school means extra traffic on roadways

Carl Hanstke and 680News staff Sep 07, 2010 11:42:49 AM
TORONTO, Ont. - It's back-to-school day, Tuesday, so drivers can expect a much busier and possibly longer commute.

One stretch of highway that is already affecting drivers is the eastbound Gardiner Expressway due to the construction by Jameson Avenue.

Drivers are being warned to leave extra time for the commute.

Police are also asking drivers to slow down through school zones, watch for children crossing the street, and not to pass the school bus when its lights are flashing.

Police told 680News officers have already charged several drivers for speeding through school zones, including a school bus driver enroute to pick up students.
