RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - The York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit has released surveillance photos of one suspect wanted in connection with two bank robberies.

Both robberies happened Thursday afternoon; one robbery in the City of Vaughan and the other in the Town of Richmond Hill, police said.

Investigators hope the images being released will assist them in identifying the suspect.

The first robbery occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m., at the Bank of Montreal located at 1621 Rutherford Road in the City of Vaughan. A male suspect entered the bank, approached the teller and made a demand for money while indicating he had a gun.

The suspect fled on foot towards Dufferin Street with a quantity of cash.

Later that day, at approximately 5 p.m., the same suspect entered a Bank of Montreal located at 8218 Bayview Avenue in the Town of Richmond Hill. The suspect demanded money in the same manner and again fled from the scene.

In both incidents the suspect displayed a handgun, however there were no injuries reported.

The suspect is being described as male, black, 25 to 30 years old, 5’6’’ to 5’7", and around 160 pounds.

He has a cross tattoo, moles on his face, and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a dark coloured long-sleeved shirt and a striped blue and black toque.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips.
