TORONTO - It turns out that there are a lot of ways to get out of paying a parking ticket in Toronto.
City politicians have released the previously ``confidential'' Parking Ticket Cancellation Guidelines.
The 18-page booklet shows that drivers most likely to have parking tickets cancelled due to attending worship and can get a letter from a priest or rabbi.
Drivers tagged because of medical reasons, age or unusual circumstances - especially if they live more than 100 kilometres from the city - are also able to get their tickets cancelled.
One driver told 680News his sure fire way of getting out of paying parking tickets is to show up in court for it, saying in his experience police do not show up.
"The guys don't show up. It's not worth their time." he said.
Drivers who park on side streets where the no parking switches from one side of the street can also get out of tickets if they can convince officials that they were confused as to which side of the street to park on, they may get off.
Fast-food delivery, nursing agencies, tour buses, taxicabs, disabled drivers and delivery vehicles can also get out of paying.
And city councillors on ``city business'' can have tickets cancelled for virtually any infraction.
