Mammoliti wants to arm bylaw-enforcement officers with guns

Jaime Pulfer Apr 26, 2010 17:45:04 PM
City councillor Giorgio Mammoliti, who hopes to be Toronto's next mayor, wants to hire at least 200 more bylaw-enforcement officers and arm them with guns.

Mammoliti is tired of the graffiti and posters littering the streets of Toronto.

"We need those gang members to start respecting the city," he said.

Mammoliti told 680News, the city's current staff lacks the resources needed to get the job done. He added graffiti is a problem that effects more than one neighbourhood across the city.

If elected, Mammoliti said he plans to increase fines for graffiti and illegal posters.

Mammoliti has been known for his controversial proposals.
