The parents of a seriously ill baby are questioning the medical decisions that are being made by physicians at Sick Kids Hospital, and are now calling for an investigation into her treatment.

Jason Wallace and Crystal Vitelli held a news conference in North York Monday afternoon. They told the media that they watched helplessly as their daughter was removed from a ventilator without their consent, and subsequently fought to breathe on her own for 27 hours.

"We walked back into the room to see our daughter struggling, and I mean struggling in a torturous way", Wallace told a room full of press.

Wallace is demanding to know why the staff took Kaylee off the respirator, but said no one has given him answers as of yet.

Now both parents are calling for an internal investigation by the Hospital for Sick Children, as they state their rights as parents are being violated. They are also considering complaining to the Ontario Association of Physicians and Surgeons and the Attorney General.

Wallace and Vitelli say Kaylee is no longer on a ventilator and is doing better.
