TORONTO, Ont. - The second suspect wanted in connection with in the theft of thousands of dollars worth of jewellery from a dying hospital patient did not appear in court, Sunday, for his formal appearance.
Marcos Marinoni was scheduled to appear in court Sunday morning however he requested hospital treatment for, what was described to 680News as, "facial injuries."
Thesecond arrest was made Saturday, in connection with Tuesday's brazen hospital room theft at Toronto East General Hospital, where a dying woman was robbed of approximately $7,000 worth of jewelry.
Marcos Marinoni, 26, of no fixed address is currently facing up to ten charges.
Police believe he was behind several other robberies over the past few months, and anticipate more charges - up to 40 in total - will be laid.
The Toronto Sun reported, Saturday, that Marinoni had put several calls into police in the 24 hour period before he was arrested. He was heard saying "you can't catch me", and he would then hang up.
His accomplice, 29 year old Isaac Lewkowicz of Toronto, was arrested on Thursday afternoon. His case has been adjourned until March 23rd.
Meanwhile, the dying victim passed away only moments following the robbery.
Her gold necklaces, a diamond ring and other items have not yet been found.
Police told 680News Marinoni is now expected to appear in court Monday morning.
