TORONTO, Ont. - Toronto mayoral candidate Sarah Thomson has proposed a road toll to help pay for expanding the subway system.
She wants to charge people $5 each way to drive on the Gardiner Expressway or the Don Valley Parkway.
Clint told 680News it's just too much. "I think it is outrageous, there's probably a better way to get revenue for the city," he said.
But, Thomson said the money would give the TTC a boost, and could mean $500-million a year.
She said that is enough to add 58 kilometres to the subway system.
Mayoral front-runner George Smitherman has not ruled out this idea, but other candidates like Rocco Rossi, Joe Pantalone and Giorgio Mammoliti are against it.
