TORONTO, Ont. - The management shakeup expected at the TTC could leave more people out of a job than originally thought.
An emergency TTC meeting is planned for Tuesday, when it's widely believed the commissioners will attempt to act on a plan to fire TTC General Manager Gary Webster.
Webster is expected to pay the price for disagreeing with the mayor and his supporters through losing his job.
Now, a Toronto Star report says there's been a strong suggestion from one city councillor that more senior transit managers may have their jobs on the line.
Coun. Frank Di Giorgio, one of the TTC commissioners, told the Star the responsibility of the city's bureaucracy is to follow the will of the mayor and achieve the objectives set out by his mandate, which TTC managers have failed to do.
He added that several of the senior managers, whether three, four or five, could face losing their jobs for not respecting the "office of the mayor."
Other councillors have shown their support for Webster, saying he has been a long serving and loyal TTC employee.
Tuesday's emergency meeting will likely clear up where the true feelings lie.
