Mexican officials say suspect arrested in beating of Canadian tourist

680News staff and The Canadian Press Jan 27, 2012 17:44:35 PM
Mexican officials say they have arrested a suspect in the beating of Canadian tourist Sheila Nabb, according to The Canadian Press.

Ivan Pico, an official with Mexico's secretary of tourism, says his ministry has not yet been provided any details about the suspect's identity and could not confirm media reports that say he is a Mexican national.

The Calgary woman was found in the elevator of a Mexican hotel with many of the bones in her face shattered.

Media reports from Mexico say a video shows a man about 25 kicking someone in the elevator where Nabb was found.

She returned home to Calgary this week, where she will undergo facial reconstruction surgery.
