Police searching for potential fraudster in Pickering

680News staff Jan 27, 2012 12:57:06 PM
Durham police are asking residents in Pickering to be on alert for a potential fraudster.

On Wednesday evening, a man went to several homes in the Rosebank Road and Sheppard area, claiming to be selling a service.

Durham police Seargent Nancy Van Rooy told 680News the man's story changes from house to house.

"They have been varying from door to door. At times, he is trying to make inquiries or business transactions regarding home-alarm security systems," Sgt. Van Rooy explained. "Other reports indicate he's also trying to sell water heaters."

Police said at this point no crime has been committed, but they are suspicious of his actions.

He is described as a clean-shaven black man in his mid 20s. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve blue dress shirt with navy blue pants, a reflective vest and khaki-coloured boots.

Any one with information is asked to contact police.
