York Region Transit strike enters 11th week

680News staff Jan 03, 2012 16:52:19 PM
The York Region Transit strike has entered its 11th week with no end in sight.

No progress was reported over the holidays in getting the striking bus workers back to work.

Just before Christmas, one of the local unions involved received a new offer from Veolia Transit, but it was rejected within hours.

Meanwhile, other York Region riders who still have service have seen fares go up.

An adult monthly pass now costs 10 dollars more, topping out at $115 per month. Student passes have also been raised 10 dollars each to $85 per month.
