TORONTO, Ont. - The city of Toronto is conducting a review of its taxicab industry for the first time in more than a decade.
The review hopes to identify priority issues for the industry and explore ways to best resolve them.
The city is inviting stakeholders to help them identify priority issues and explore ways to resolve them.
"The goal of the review is to bring forward a fair and equitable plan that will be informed through extensive consultations with input from all the experts and those who will be most directly affected by these changes." said Councillor Cesar Palacio, the chair of the Licensing and Standards Committee.
An invitation-only stakeholder consultation meeting will take place December 8.
There are approximately 10,000 licensed taxicab drivers in Toronto.
