TORONTO, Ont. - The Global Marijuana March takes place in Toronto Saturday afternoon, with marches also expected in hundreds of other cities around the world.
More than 25,000 people are expected to gather in Queen's Park and march down the streets of downtown, in protest of marijuana laws, at 2 p.m.
Over 250 cities worldwide take part in the annual event, which takes place every year on the first Saturday in May.
This is Toronto's 13th year hosting a marijuana march, as Torontonians advocate for easier access to medical marijuana for prescribed users, more liberal marijuana laws, or the hope that marijuana use in Canada will soon be decriminalized.
The Toronto march is one of the largest in the world, so commuters and residents should be prepared for a large group of marijuana advocates marching down the streets this afternoon.
