Ignatieff takes teaching position at Massey College

It is back to the classroom for Michael Ignatieff.

Just days after stepping down as leader of the Liberal party, Ignatieff has landed a job at the prestigious Massey College at the University of Toronto.

The Grits faced a crushing defeat in Monday’s federal election, losing more than half their seats, including the former leader’s.

Ignatieff will become a senior resident at Massey College, a post that has been held in the past by former politicians Pierre Trudeau, Bob Rae, and Preston Manning.

He will be teaching classes on law, international relations and political science.

The Globe and Mail is reporting his office will be complete with a fireplace, a bedroom and a large study.

Ignatieff graduated from U of T and has taught at Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

As he gets back to the academic life, the new Liberal caucus will meet on Wednesday to vote on an interim leader, who will hold the position until a leadership convention can be held.

A number of names have already been rumoured as possible successors, such as Ralph Goodale, Justin Trudeau, Bob Rae and Dominic LeBlanc.
