Homeowners go green: recycling election signs

680News staff May 03, 2011 05:18:42 AM
TORONTO, On. - Toronto homeowners who have an election sign on their lawn can go green, even if they didn't vote that way.

Candidates have until the end of Friday to remove all their campaign signs; however, six drop-off depots will be accepting signs for recycle until May 24.

The City of Toronto will be allowing homeowners to deposit three main types of signs: corrugated plastic, paperboard, and plastic film signs.

There are six locations (excluding Dufferin) that are accepting sign waste until May 24. There will be no fee for drop-offs, if they are properly separated from the rest of your waste.

Homeowners can recycle election signs at the following locations:

These signs cannot go in curbside/apartment recycling or garbage containers. Signs also must be kept separate from other waste items that may be included for drop-off, as charges could apply for the other items.
