Debit card system comes to Tim Hortons in Ontario

TORONTO, Ont. - Tim Hortons will now be accepting debit card payments in Ontario.

The company will be rolling out a national debit card machine, but one of its stores on the Queensway already has a machine installed.

680News spoke to several customers at the store who said that could lead to longer lineups.

While using a debit card is more convenient, one customer said she would end up paying twice as much for her large coffee.

"You're going to pay $1.58 for a bank charge for a coffee?" she asked.

Tim Hortons has accepted MasterCard and pre-paid Tim's cards for several years.
