TORONTO, Ont. - Two innocent bystanders were rushed to hospital after shots were fired near a club in the Eglinton and Danforth area.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday at Zoom Night Club.
A 28-year-old woman was shot in the thigh, while a 34-year-old man took a bullet to the torso. They are both expected to recover.
Officers described the shooting as an overreaction by the gunman after the male victim bumped into him.
"It was a different kind of sound. It was almost like an echoing sound ... it was just different," said Marnie, who heard the gunshots only a few feet from her.
Witnesses have already come forward and are being interviewed by police, but so far no arrests have been made.
"The suspect is black, 6 foot, 20-30 years of age, wearing a black jacket and black baseball cap," said Staff Sergeant Jim Farrell.
Farrell said this shooting is a classical case of "wrong place at the wrong time."
