Hotel workers hold third walkout

TORONTO, Ont. - Toronto hotel workers are taking part in another strike at the Hyatt Regency on King Street.

The 1-day walkout comes as dozens of celebrities are checking into the city's luxury hotels for the Toronto International Film Festival.

On Friday, actor Martin Sheen and his actor son, Emilio Estevez, threw their support behind the 24-hour walkout by workers at the posh Royal York Hotel. Sheen briefly walked the picket line alongside workers.

He said he supports the pickets because he is involved with many actor unions himself.

"I feel right at home here and the issues are the same everywhere. You know? We're trying to establish a living wage and working conditions and that's normal. That's what all of us are trying to do."

Sunday's walkout is the third, and follows Saturday's demonstrations at the Holiday Inn on Bloor Street. The workers are demanding better hours and higher wages.
