Students return to Vaughan elementary school after August storm
Students at St. Peter's Catholic Elementary School in Woodbridge, Ont. return to their classrooms Tuesday, almost three months after a tornado swept through the area, leaving it heavily damaged.
The tornado on August 20 ripped off the school's roof and destroyed the ventilation system. It cost $2.5-million to repair the school.
Now that repairs are finished, the 400 students can return to their regular classrooms.
They have spent the last few months being schooled at nearby St. Francis of Assisi and Immaculate Conception.
York Catholic School Board spokesperson, Chris Cable, told 680News, students will notice new desks, new computers and new bulletin boards.
"[...] It's almost like Christmas. Students and staff will be going in on Tuesday and unwrapping a new enhanced St. Peters," Cable added.
