John Tory tops mayoral candidates list for Toronto: poll
Toronto - Former Ontario Progressive Conservative leader John Tory topped the list of possible mayoral candidates for Toronto, based on the first inclusive poll released Tuesday morning by Angus Reid Strategies.
Aside from Tory, Ontario Deputy Premier George Smitherman and TTC chair Adam Giambroni were also on the list when it came to name recognition.
Jodi Shanoff, the vice-president of public affairs at Angus Ried, told 680News that Smitherman is not as well-liked as Giambroni.
"Giambroni, a little more positive than Smitherman, which I would attribute to his more local profile, certainly, but he's held in relatively good regard by Toronto voters," Shanoff said.
The other four hypothetical candidates ranked in the following order when it came to name recognition: Glen Murray, the former mayor of Winnipeg, as well as Toronto city councillors Denzil Minnan-Wong, Michael Thompson and Giorgio Mammoliti.
However, it seems there isn't much interest in the mayoral race in 2010 with 47 per cent remaining 'undecided.'
