More money spent on Health in July amid growing scandal
Toronto - Another $236-million was reportedly spent to add doctors to Ontario's eHealth program even as it was mired in controversy.
The Toronto Star said the investment was made in July, just after eHealth CEO Sarah Kramer resigned amid a $1 billion scandal.
The money was earmarked to link 5,700 doctors to eHealth records over three years.
Doctors can apply for nearly $30,000 to buy either a local electronic records system or a system tied into eHealth Ontario's server.
Doctors must buy the system from one of 11 vendors -- a move some computer firms say shuts them out of the Ontario market.
NDP critic France Gelinas said the government should "pull the plug" on eHealth before more money is spend with no accountability.
