Funeral held Monday for Etobicoke boy who died from H1N1
Toronto - The father of a 13-year-old boy who died of swine flu said his beautiful son has become the face of the H1N1 virus.
Evan Frustaglio died a week ago and on Monday hundreds of people packed the All Saints Church, located on Royal York Rd. in Etobicoke.
Many of Evan's hockey teammates were wearing their jerseys. They sat in groups as Evan's father talked about his son's passion for hockey.
"He was always in the driveway shooting pucks after pucks after pucks - breaking neighbours windows, breaking car lights. Often enough he'd run into the house screaming for us just to come outside, we'd ask 'what's wrong, what's wrong Ev.' He would smirk and say 'nothing, you just gotta check out this new move I made,'" his father said.
Alex played alongside Evan and said "I'll miss him really much - he was a good friend."
The teen's mother followed the casket out of the church holding a single white rose, as a Toronto police honour guard, with some officers crying, saluted the family.
Evan's father also said the family's moved by the thousands of strangers who have reached out and offered their support.
