Globe and Mail workers will not walk off the job
Toronto - A threatened strike has been averted at the Globe and Mail.
A tentative contract was reached late Thursday night between the newspaper and its almost 500 editorial, advertising and circulation workers.
"Both sides were attempting to recognize the changing economics of the newspaper business, as well as the recession and reach a deal that was fair to all [...]," said a union spokesperson.
Workers had threatened to walk-off the job after midnight.
Changes to the pension plan and wages were the the major stumbling blocks in negotiations.
The specific details of the deal will not be released until after the ratification vote happens on Monday.
