Toronto - NDP Trinity-Spadina MP Olivia Chow has called for a federal probe into spending practices at the Toronto Port Authority.
Chow held a news conference Monday late-morning, with documents in-hand, that outlined the close to $80,000 in travel expenses by former CEO Lisa Raitt, who is now the federal Minister of Natural Resources.
Last week, Raitt's assistant took the fall when a sensitive documents were left behind at a television studio.
These new allegations from four board members stemmed from a letter to Transport Minister John Baird.
The board members said the two directors at Port Authority ignored conflicts of interests.
They said management spend $50,000 at a steakhouse, and that one lunch cost nearly $1,000, approved their own expenses and spent an unnecessary amount of time in England on the Port Authority's dime.
"It's political interference, it's management of money, it's keeping things confidential...," Chow told reporters.
The Toronto Port Authority said this is a smear campaign by disgruntled board members.
