Search continues for missing autistic boy
The search continues for a missing autistic boy believed to have been taken by his father, even though an amber alert has ended.
Austin Large from Ancaster, Ont., and his father, Elias Large, left for what was supposed to be a weekend fishing trip four days ago and haven't been heard from since.
Police said they're concerned about Large's well-being, because he is autistic and needs medication that he's expected to run out of if he stays away too long.
Detectives told 680News the boy was taken by his dad, Friday, for what was supposed to be a fun father-son weekend.
The boy's mother then became concerned Monday when the two failed to return.
Police issued an amber alert around 8 p.m. and cancelled it just before midnight, after receiving at least one credible tip.
Police are now looking into a report suggesting the boy and his father were on a ferry to Manitoulin Island on Saturday.
Austin is white, about five-feet five-inches tall, 160 pounds, with short light brown hair and blue eyes.
He and his dad are believed to be in a 1999 GMC Sierra.
