"Change has come to America" -- with those words, Barack Obama addressed U.S. voters who elected him as their 44th president, Tuesday.

He broke the racial barrier to become the the first African-American president in U.S. history.

Biography

Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. is the junior senator from Illinois, in office since January 2005. Prior to that office, he was a member of the Illinois State Senate from the 13th district, from 1997 to 2004.

Biography

John Sidney McCain III is the senior senator from Arizona, who has been in office since 1987. Prior to that post, he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Arizona's 1st district from 1983-1987.
