Jack Roe is a veteran radio broadcaster, having begun his career working
all-nights while a university undergraduate in the mid-1970s. He spent 25 years
with the CHUM Group stations (CKPT-AM and Country 105-FM) in Peterborough,
serving stints as both program director and news director of both
stations.
He also co-hosted the area's top-rated morning show The Ric and Roe Show for
seven years.
Simultaneously over two decades, Jack was also a weekly correspondent and
occasional guest-host of CBC Radio One's Ontario Morning program. In 1982, he
was awarded the Commonwealth Relations Trust Bursary, given to one Canadian
private broadcaster annually to work with colleagues in Great Britain for six
months. Jack chose to work as an associate producer of radio drama at the BBC
during his bursary.
Aside from his work as an anchor at 680News, which began in December 2002,
Jack also teaches communications at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ont., where
he continues to live. He also works as a stage actor (as he has since 1978),
winning a number of awards, most recently a Theatre Ontario 'acting excellence
award' for his role in a production of Sleuth.
Jack is recently re-married, has three daughters and a step-son, and in his
off hours amuses himself by attempting to play left field on two softball teams
during the summer and volleyball during the winter months.
