I watched every minute of Michael Jackson’s memorial service yesterday afternoon and then watched a couple of hours of highlights last night.
I’m not sure I agreed with or believed all of the words that were spoken by those who claimed to know him best (like the Rev. Al Sharpton’s assurance to Jackson’s kids that there was nothing strange about their father) .
In my view, it is a bit strange to find a way to alter the colour of your skin to what paramedics who were called to his house described as, “white paper” white. In my view, hanging your child over a balcony is also a strange thing to do.
But in this media world of Twitter, compressed prose and instant reaction, I couldn’t agree more with Sharpton’s answer to the critics that he:
A) Outsang the cynics.
B) Outdanced the doubters.
C) Outperformed the pessimists.
