TORONTO - Irish novelist Colm Toibin has been named as a jury member for the 2011 Griffin Poetry Prize.
His fellow judges will be Regina-born poet Tim Lilburn and American poet Chase Twichell.
Toibin has previously served as a judge for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, which recognizes novels and short fiction.
The Griffin, which recently celebrated its 10th year, is among the most lucrative poetry prizes in the world. The overall prize pot was recently raised to $200,000.
The judges choose an international winner as well as a Canadian one.
Next year's shortlisted books (four international and three Canadian) will be announced on April 5. The winners will be named on June 1.
