Actor Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, are due back in a California courtroom Tuesday.
But earlier in the week, they were in Canada seeking political asylum over their stated fears they would be "whacked'' if they returned to Hollywood.
Denying they are on drugs or mentally unstable, Randy and Evi Quaid told ABC News they fled to Canada to escape the so-called "star whackers" - a cult that is bugging their phones and hacking their computers.
"They're absolute businessmen. It's the mafia; it's organized crime," said Mrs. Quaid.
The Quaids are wanted by California police who said they broke into and trashed their former house; however, they claim they still live in the home and it's all part of a bigger conspiracy.
"We're not faking it. We're confronting it," said Mr. Quaid.
The couple has said this "mafia" is behind eight celebrity, including Heath Ledger, deaths in the last 5 years.
