Bedouin Soundclash release new album; hit the road for worldwide tour

TORONTO, Ont. - Jay Malinowski and Eon Sinclair have hit the road for a worldwide tour, and they have a new addition by their side.

Bedouin Soundclash, the Toronto-based reggae/ska band, will be touring for the first time with Sekou Lumumba, their new drummer.

The threesome's stops will include the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, and India, as they release their fifth studio album, Light the Horizon.

The album, described as more varied by frontman Malinowski, comes shortly after the release of his own solo material, Bright Lights & Bruises, which he dropped under the Bedouin label, Pirates Blend Records, in February.

Malinowski said the band's new album features ukuleles and rainsticks, adding the instrumentation is much more assorted than any of their previous releases.

Light the Horizon reveals a personal journey for the boys, showcasing a refreshed Bedouin, said bassist Sinclair.

"This is the first record we've done since we ended the band as it had been ... so, the album talks a lot about the process of coming to that decision, [and] what it means for us now."

And this re-energized, baring-it-all, Bedouin 2010 tour promises to be a good one for a couple of reasons, said Sinclair. Partnering with UNICEF Canada, one lucky fan and a friend will have the chance to travel to Mumbai, India to see the band perform live, followed by an adventure tour courtesy of Intrepid Travel.

Sinclair is encouraging all entrants to give what they can. Any donations, even small ones, could help make a significant difference in someone's life, he said.

The fellas will be gigging until mid-November, when they will return home for a number of shows.

And with high-pressure, before concert rituals, fans can definitely expect the most bang for their buck if they plan on heading to a show.

"[We] just look each other in the eye, like don't mess this up," laughed Malinowski.

Interested applicants can submit an entry form to the "Bedouin In India Contest," by clicking here, or by texting the word "INDIA" to 75353 . The contest deadline is October 3.

Light the Horizon hit shelves September 28.
