Mayor Ford drops four more pounds, manages to avoid chicken wings and beer during Super Bowl

It appears Mayor Rob Ford managed to stay away from the beer and chicken wings while watching the Super Bowl Sunday night.

When he stepped on the scales for his weekly weigh-in, the mayor was down four more pounds to a total of 310 pounds. His weight loss so far sits at 20 pounds.

Last week, the mayor had said he was a little worried about Super Bowl weekend, which is his favourite time of the year. He said resisting the urge to eat chicken wings, chips and drink beer during the game would be a challenge.

"Mind over matter, I had to have a lot of self-discipline," Ford said. "Drank a lot of water and ate a big chicken salad before that game and that tided me over, so it's the first time ever."

Mayor Ford added that he went for 20 laps after the game before waking up at 5 a.m. Monday morning for another round of running.

Meanwhile, his brother Doug held firm at last week's weight, just under 260 pounds. He has lost 6.5 pounds.

Speaking about his lack of lost weight, Doug blamed not working out and slipping a little during the big game.

"Yeah I probably had one too many chicken fingers," Doug said. "Just haven't been working out, I got to get back on track, I'm going on record I'm down five pounds next week, guaranteed."

The Ford brothers are trying to lose weight for charity, and hope to lose 50 pounds by June this year.
