Negotiations between city and workers continue this week

680News staff Jan 23, 2012 10:10:35 AM
TORONTO, Ont. - With the February 5th deadline for a strike or lockout looming, negotiations are set to continue this week between the City of Toronto and the union for outside workers.

Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday is hopeful a resolution can be reached before the deadline, and Union Spokesman Kevin Wilson told the Toronto Sun that they would use every possible opportunity to meet in the days leading up to the deadline.

The city has promised if there is a labour disruption the TTC, fire, police and libraries would not be effected, but there would be no garbage pick up - except in Etobicoke.

There would also be a scaling back of snow clearing and fewer paramedics available to work.
