TOKYO - The U.S. dollar has sunk to a new 15-year low against the yen.
The dollar was trading near 83.30 yen on Wednesday afternoon, even as Japanese officials repeated they may intervene to stop the yen's climb.
Earlier Wednesday, the Japanese Finance Minister said Tokyo would take measures to stop the yen's rise "when necessary," according to Kyodo News agency.
A strong yen can hurt Japan's export-led economy, as it cuts into profits on sales made abroad.
