Eva Fragiskatos
TV and Radio Traffic Reporter, Morning
I graduated from Humber College in 2006, from the journalism-print and broadcast program.
I started interning at 680News during that same year. As all interns do, I put together a couple of demo tapes and threw them into an intern file. At the time, the station happened to be looking for a new part-time overnight traffic reporter; they listened to my demo and next thing I knew I was asked if I was interested in doing traffic.
And so it began. I started training for traffic and began working overnights. Overnights were a struggle and learning the entire city of Toronto (a city I did not grow up in) was a huge challenge. I studied maps, went through the cameras on a daily basis and let's just say "Google Maps" has become my best friend. It was hard work -- especially going from overnight to evening to day and so on -- but sticking with it paid off.
680News and Citytv joined forces November of 2007. Breakfast Television was going to start using 680News as their new traffic source and they needed someone to be the traffic reporter. So, after numerous morning auditions, I got the job as the traffic reporter for Breakfast Television. I was scared at first and I didn't think I could do it, but now I love it. I learn something new everyday and I love getting up and going to work in the morning. I also do a split shift so you can also find me doing the traffic for Citytv news at 5 p.m.
